FV-310 When you see a sign of failure

 

Case 1. The motor turns, but only cold air comes out.

The heating element may have broken. Confirm the resistance value of the heating element.

The heating element deteriorates over time and gets breakage.
Confirm the resistance value of the heating element if only cold air comes out even the motor is turning.
Procedure of measuring the resistance value of the heating element.

【How to handle】

If the measured resistance value is not within the normal range, the heating element is broken. Replace it with a new one.

If the measured resistance value is within the normal range, the PWB or other components may have broken. And, it is necessary to be repaired.
For the repair, please contact the store of purchase or the Hakko official distributor.

 

Procedure of measuring the resistance value of the heating element.

Check with the video.

Measure the value between (a) and (b) with the resistance meter (digital multimeter).

The normal values are as follows.

13Ω±10% (100-110V)
56Ω±10% (220V)
62Ω±10% (230V)
70Ω±10% (240V)
(b)
115Ω±10% (100-110V)
300Ω±10% (220-240V)
The tools required
  • Resistance meter (Digital multimeter)
  • #2 (shaft length: 150mm) Phillips-head screwdriver

Make sure to set the slide switch to "0" (OFF) and unplug before taking out the heating element for safety.

The pipe and the heating element are so hot immediately after use. Make sure applying cool down enough before removing.

Procedure of replacing the heating element.

The items required
  • Heating element for FV-310 :
    A5039 (100V), A5040 (110V), A5041 (220V), A5043 (230V), A5042 (240V)
  • #2 (shaft length: 150mm) Phillips-head screwdriver

You can check the video on the procedure of replacing the heating element.

Make sure to set the slide switch to "0" (OFF) and unplug the unit for safety before the work.

Case 2. Not only the motor but also the heater does not function.

Burnout of heating element, motor trouble, or disconnection of the power cord is suspected.
Check the resistance value of the heater terminal (b).

The heating element and the motor deteriorate over time.
If the motor does not work and the heating element cannot get hot, set the slide switch to "0" (OFF) immediately and check the resistant value at the heater terminal (b) of the heating element.

【How to handle】

If the measured resistance value of the terminal (b) is not within the normal range, the heating element is broken.

If the measured resistance value of the heater terminal (b) is normal, motor trouble or disconnection of the power cord is suspected. And, it is necessary to be repaired.
For the repair, please contact the store of purchase or the Hakko official distributor.

  • Every deteriorated part is replaced when submitted for repair.
  • We supply the motors as replacement parts. But it is recommended to use the repair service if you are not a technician.
  • The power cord is not supplied as a replacement part. Ask for repair service.

Case 3. Air volume is out of control

The air control knob or PWB may have broken. Ask for repair service.
