Daily maintenance of the FT-720

Solder waste accumulates in the waste collector each time you clean the tip. So, please remove and dispose of them periodically.
In addition, remember to clean the sensor cover, which is located near the opening.
 

Maintenance process

  1. Pull out the plug of the AC adaptor from the unit, then remove the cover from it.

    Pull out the AC adaptor plug from the unit.
    Remove the cover from the unit.

    The cover cannot be detached with the plug being connected.

  2. Pull out the solder waste collector and remove the stacked solder with a plastic spatula or the like.

  3. Throw solder waste in the trash and return the waste collector to the unit.

  4. Clean the sensor cover with a soft brush, etc.

    Clean the upper and lower recessed area.

    Check from here if the sensor cover was dirty with flux, etc., or if you prefer serious cleaning.

  5. To finish the maintenance, return the cover to the unit and insert the plug of AC adaptor to the unit.

    Periodic maintenance would be recommended to use the FT-720 for an extended period.


 

Cleaning of the sensor cover

When the sensing area and sensor cover are not clean, the unit may not detect in and out of the tip and keeps the cleaning brushes rotating.

Depending on the frequency of how the unit operates, eject the sensor cover and clean it periodically.

  1. Remove the AC adapter plug from the unit and detach the sensor cover.

    FT-720

    For your safety, remove the AC adapter plug first before starting the work.

  2. Wipe the dirty off with the waste cloth damped by alcohol.

    Replace the sensor cover to the new one in case the dirt never goes off, the sensor cover was broken, or badly damaged.

  3. To finish the cleaning, set the sensor cover to the original position and insert the AC adapter plug into the unit.

    Apply periodic maintenance to use in good condition for an extended period.
