How to adjust the tip position with the FT-710

You can adequately clean tips by adjusting the positional relation of the soldering tip and cleaning brushes before use.

What to do before positioning

  • Power off the soldering iron and let the tip cool enough before starting the work.
  • Get ready a receptacle that matches well with the tip.

Refer to the applicable soldering iron list about the soldering iron and tip shape applied to the FT-710.

  • Mind that some tip shapes are not applicable.

How to adjust the tip position

  1. Pull out the AC adaptor plug from the FT-710.

    The cover cannot be removed when the AC adapter is plugged in.

  2. Remove the cover.

    Lift the cover right above, holding the ▼ area with the fingers.

  3. Insert the soldering tip and adjust the height of the receptacle.

    Adjust the receptacle so that the tip head comes on the line between the two shanks of the cleaning brushes.

    Removing the cleaning brushes makes it easy to see the tip head position and adjust it quickly.

  4. To finish the adjustment, tighten the lock nut holding the receptacle with your hand.

    Tighten the lock nut holding the receptacle with your hand so that the receptacle does not move after adjustment.

You can adjust the position quickly with the gauge provided with the FT-710.

How to adjust the position with the gauge

  1. Put the receptacle over the soldering iron.

  2. Apply the tip head to the gauge and adjust the position of the lock nut.

    Align the tip head with the 'A' line of the gauge and adjust the position of the lock nut so it comes to the line of 'B.'

  3. To complete the position adjustment, attach the receptacle to the unit, paying attention not to be changing the lock nut position.

    Attach to the unit by rotating the receptacle to prevent the lock nut from moving carefully.

You can clean the tip properly by adjusting the contact position of the cleaning brushes and the soldering tip.
