How to prevent a tip from seizing?

The followng regular maintenance will prevent a tip from seizing.

"Seizing" is the state like below.
  • A tip does not come off even after removing the screw.
  • The screw that fixes a tip does not loosen.
  • The screw that fixes a tip is broken.

It takes the same procedure for tip replacement.
Please ensure that a tip is removable before turning on the power for frequent use.

  1. Wait for a tip to be completely cooled down.

Every part is quite hot just after unplugging the iron.
Please make sure that the metal parts are cool enough before starting the maintenance.

  2. Loose the screw that fixes a tip with a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver.

The loosened screw in the picture is the one to fix a tip.

There are two types of screws.

The other screw is for fixing a heating element inside. A tip does not come off even after loosening the screw.

  3. Remove a tip.
