Top of Support & Service > MAINTENANCE/TROUBLESHOOTING/APPLICATION EXAMPLES > Why do the FX-600 / FX-601 / FX-600D have different power consumption (W) even though they use the same heating element?
The power consumption is the value at the maximum set temperature.
According to Ohm's Law, as the temperature increases, the resistance also increases, which in turn lowers the power consumption. Therefore, even with the same heating element, the power consumption can differ.
| Soldering iron | Maximum temperature | Power consumption |
|---|---|---|
| FX-600 | 500℃ | 50W |
| FX-601 | 540℃ | 47W |
| FX-600D | 540℃ | 47W |
