Maintenance of HAKKO 917 soldering iron
HAKKO 917 is the soldering iron for HAKKO 938.
1.
 Slightly loosen the nipple (1/2 to 3/4 revolutions).
  When replacing the soldering tip, it is not necessary to remove the nipple; loosening the nipple is enough.
  Forcibly turning the nipple by more than 3/4 revolutions will strip the screw thread, making the handle unserviceable.
2. Pull the soldering tip out from the nipple.

3. Insert a new soldering tip.
4. Tighten the nipple.

 Remove the two screws from the nipple.
2. Turn the nipple and remove it from the handle.
  Be careful not to lose the nipple screws, washers, and O-ring.

 Set the two washers in the new nipple.
4. Place the O-ring onto the handle.
5. Attach the nipple to the handle.
6. Set and tighten the screws into the nipple.
  Fastening the screws for the nipple too tightly may damage the nipple. Tighten the screws so that the nipple surface is level with the screw surface.
