Can the insulation of lead wire be stripped without damaging the core wire?
If the insulation is a hard material, the insulation cannot be stripped in one session and the core wire can be damaged by pinching the lead wire with the wire stripper many times. If a lead wire whose core wire was damaged is soldered, the strength will be reduced and the soldered section itself may be cracked. In particular, in the aerospace, defense and aviation industries, flaws on this core wire will result in serious trouble.
In order to prevent the core wire from being damaged, the method of stripping the insulation by melting is available.
Since the insulation is thermally stripped, the core wire will not be flawed. These wire strippers are called “thermal wire strippers” and “heat wire strippers”. However, the quantity of thermal wire strippers which are currently marketed is very small and in addition, a blade (tip)-exchangeable type has not been marketed. Thus, the HAKKO FT-800 was developed.
