POINT 2. Simple daily inspection

To perform a simple inspection of the HAKKO 498, check the following points.

•Check of HAKKO 498 main body
   •Does the buzzer sound?
   •Is the lamp lit?

•Check of HAKKO 498 grounding wire
   •Is the grounding wire broken?



HAKKO 498 Simple Daily Inspection
•Check of HAKKO 498 main body

1. Hold the pad with your right hand while touching the grounding wire connection section with your left hand.

Normal conditions The LOW lamp is lit. Or the GOOD lamp is lit and the buzzer sounds at the same time.
* If your hand is dry or wet, the judgment varies.

[If an abnormal response occurs]
CASE1 The lamps are darker than usual.
Both lamps are lit at the same time.
Buzzer sound is weak or buzzer does not sound.
CASE2 The lamp is not lit and the buzzer does not sound.
CASE3 The HIGH lamp remains lit.

Changing the area which comes in contact with the pad causes the LOW lamp or GOOD lamp to be lit.
It is said that the resistance of the human body is approx. 400KΩ to 2MΩ.


Changing the area which comes in contact with the pad may cause the LOW lamp or the GOOD lamp to be lit. Pushing the pad while minimizing the contact area as shown at right causes the GOOD lamp to be lit.


2. Release the left hand from the grounding wire contact section.

Normal conditions The HIGH lamp will be lit.

[If an abnormal response occurs]
CASE1 The lamps are darker than usual.
Both lamps are lit at the same time.
Buzzer sound is weak or buzzer does not sound.
CASE2 The lamp is not lit and the buzzer does not sound.
CASE3 The HIGH lamp remains lit.


•Check of HAKKO 498 grounding wire

Connect the grounding wire and hold the pad with a clip.

Normal conditions The LOW lamp is lit.
Broken conditions The HIGH lamp is lit or the lamps light alternately.

Replace the grounding wire with a new one.
