Conflict Mineral Policy

Home  >  About Us  >  Conflict Mineral Policy

In the Democratic Republic of Congo and its adjoining countries, conflict has continued for many years. The international community is concerned that minerals originating and produced in these conflict regions are the main source of finance for the armed groups, causing humanitarian and social problems.
To address this issue, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act was passed by the Congress of the United States of America in July, 2010. This act defines certain minerals (tantalum, tin, gold, and tungsten) originated from the Democratic Republic of Congo and adjoining countries as “conflict minerals”, and SEC reporting companies are required to disclose information regarding the use of conflict minerals in their products.
HAKKO Corporation will continue to work with our suppliers to procure materials without the use of conflict minerals to agree with the international approach to ban the use of conflict minerals originating from the Democratic Republic of Congo and its adjoining countries.
